Discover how Southlake Health’s Distributed Health Network will improve access to care closer to home
Southlake Health is inviting Georgina residents to attend a community open house to learn more about its plans to transform health care across northern York Region and southern Simcoe County through a Distributed Health Network (DHN), including the development of an Advanced Care Centre in Georgina.
The open house will provide community members with an opportunity to hear directly from Southlake leaders, learn more about plans to expand access to care closer to home, ask questions about the future of health care in Georgina and across the region.
Georgina Community Open House details:
- Date: Monday, June 29, 2026
- Time: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Location: The Link, 20849 Dalton Rd, Georgina, ON L0E
In April 2026, the Province of Ontario endorsed Southlake Health’s vision for a DHN and announced a $10 million planning investment to support the redevelopment of Southlake’s Davis Drive campus and the planning of a second acute care hospital in East Gwillimbury. Together, these hospital sites will serve as the anchors of a connected network of care that will also include community-based services delivered through Advanced Care Centres in Georgina and Bradford West Gwillimbury.
The proposed Advanced Care Centre in Georgina will help bring more specialized services closer to home, improving access to care and reducing the need for residents to travel outside their community for many health care needs.
The open house follows the recent release of Georgina’s Population Health Assessment, developed in partnership with the Town of Georgina and Northern York South Simcoe Ontario Health Team. The report identified opportunities to improve access to primary care and specialized services, address transportation barriers, support an aging population, and enhance access to mental health and community services. Insights from the assessment will help inform future planning and service delivery across the DHN.
The open house will feature informational displays, opportunities to engage with Southlake leaders and subject matter experts, and updates on planning efforts currently underway.
