Southlake Health welcomes Charissa Cordon, EdD, as Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive

Charissa will champion nursing excellence and patient care.

After completing a comprehensive national search, Southlake Health is proud to welcome Charissa Cordon, RN, MN, EdD, CHE as its new Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive (CNE).  A highly respected nursing leader and advocate for people and practice, Charissa joins Southlake Health with more than 20 years of experience across Ontario’s academic and community hospital systems. She is recognized for her strong commitment to empowering nurses and interprofessional teams, advancing professional practice, and strengthening quality and safety across complex healthcare environments.

As Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive, Charissa will play a critical role in advancing Southlake Health’s strategic priorities, including its Distributed Health Network and population health management approach. Her leadership will help strengthen quality and safety, support a resilient and engaged workforce, and enhance the care experience for patients and families across the region.

“Charissa is an exceptional leader and a strong advocate for people and the nursing profession,” said Paul Woods, MD, President and CEO, Southlake Health. “Her experience will be instrumental as Southlake continues to transform into a Distributed Health Network that will support the next 100 years of care in our communities.”

Charissa joins Southlake from William Osler Health System, where she served as Associate Vice President, Practice and Academics, providing senior leadership across professional practice, quality and patient safety, and academic partnerships within a large, multi-site teaching hospital. In addition, she has held many other leadership roles at hospitals across Ontario, including Trillium Health Partners, Hamilton Health Sciences, and University Health Network. She also holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Change.
