Amenities for Patients & Visitors

TV rentals are provided by HealthHub (Hospitality Network). For information on renting a TV during your stay, click here or turn on the TV once in your patient room and follow the directions.

If you require information on rental fees, please call 1-866-223-3686.

A phone is located beside each patient bed (exceptions apply on some patient care units). For information on renting a phone during your stay, click here.

To request the use of a phone during your hospital stay, dial “0” and ask the switchboard operator to activate your phone. You will be charged a nominal daily fee for phone services.

A Hospitality Network representative will come to your room to collect both TV and phone rental fees.

Outside callers can dial directly into patient rooms. Give your family and friends the hospital telephone number (905-895-4521) and your extension, as shown on the phone handset.

In consideration for other patients, incoming calls are blocked between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. Urgent after-hours calls are directed to the nursing station on the patient care unit.

Before you are discharged, please inform your relatives and friends when you are being discharged so the next patient does not receive your calls.

Should you have any questions or concerns about your telephone, dial “0” and a switchboard operator will assist you.

Pay phones are also located on every level and in the East and West Building lobbies.

Every patient has the ability to call for assistance whenever necessary. Your nurse will explain how the Nurse Call System works when you are admitted to your room. Patients also have the ability to call for assistance from all washrooms located on patient care units.

Please inform friends and family to address your mail as follows:

At Southlake, serving with compassion means providing our patients with the “little things” during their stay. Our Office of Patient Experience offers a message service to patients through our website. Family and friends of patients are able to send written messages to them during their hospital stay. Hospital volunteers will print and deliver these messages to patients weekdays at 8:00 a.m. and weekends between the hours of 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Emails received on holidays will be delivered the following business day. For further details on patient emails can be found in the Contact a Patient section on the website.

Automated bank machines are located close to the East Main entrance, near the Hospital’s Aquene Cafe, and on Level 1 of the Medical Arts Building.

Southlake Regional Health Centre is a smoke and vape free environment.

Spiritual and Religious Care is available through the services of our Spiritual Care Team, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Southlake also has Spiritual Centres located on Level 1 and Level 2 of the East Building for your convenience. For after-hours, please call Locating at ext. 2216 and have the on-call chaplain paged.

The volunteer-run Gift Shop, located on Level 1 of the East Building, offers an assortment of gifts, clothing, toiletries, cards, books and magazines.

The Gift Shop also offers fresh flowers and floral arrangements which also can be ordered and delivered to patients by a Southlake volunteer. As flowers with strong scents are not permitted in the Hospital, the Gift Shop provides acceptable flowers. To place an order, please call 905-895-4521, ext. 2605

Nutrition is an important part of your recovery. The goal of the Food Services Department is to deliver prompt and friendly service and provide meals that meet your nutritional needs. Patients on most units have the opportunity to select their food choices from a Food Services representative.

Meals are served during the following time periods:

  • Breakfast 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
  • Lunch 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
  • Dinner 4:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

To better serve the needs of both patients and staff, Food Services has established an information hotline. By dialing FOOD (ext. 3663) you will be able to make one of two selections. The first prompt will let you know the menu items served in the Aquene Cafe that day. The second prompt provides you with the opportunity to leave a comment, question or concern in the voice mailbox.

Messages will be retrieved on a daily basis and if requested, someone from Food Services will respond to your call within 24 hours. However, the purpose of the hotline is to improve communication and provide feedback opportunities, so any concerns requiring immediate attention should continue to be directed to the Food Services Department at 905-895-4521, ext. 2524.
