Accessibility

Southlake Health is committed to providing barrier-free access to its environments, programs, and services.

Based on the requirements within the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) 2005 and the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, Ontario Regulation 429/07, Southlake is pleased to provide you with access to the following documentation:

Wheelchairs are available at Southlake near the main entrance, the Emergency Department entrance and the Medical Arts Building entrance.

Accessible parking spots are available in the main parking lot close to the main hospital entrance, in the main parking garage and at the Medical Arts Building near the entrance.

At Southlake, doors to the main entrance, Cancer Centre, Emergency Department, Medical Arts Building, bridge and parking garage have automatic doors and are accessible by wheelchair and scooter.

Accessible washrooms with automatic or push button openers are available. Look for accessible signs above the doors.

Please feel free to bring your communication aides from home. The hospital provides translators by request, teletypewriters (TTYs) and other assistive devices when needed.

Southlake seeks to provide documents or information in a way that takes into account the accessibility needs of the person in a timely fashion and at a cost that is no more than the regular cost charged to other persons. Requests, concerns or questions regarding accessible formats and communication supports can be directed to Corporate Communications at corporatecommunications@southlake.ca.

This website conforms with the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0, type A, and thus complies with the Information and Communications Standards under the AODA.

Several features have been incorporated into this website to make it easier for everyone to use. For example, visitors can increase and decrease the size of the text to suit their needs. The colour scheme was chosen to maximize contrast between text and background colours and be readable by those who experience colour blindness. All links are underlined to distinguish links from content text. Visual elements include alternate names and descriptions. Wherever possible navigation items have been placed in a consistent location on each page.
