Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals who are extensively trained in the assessment and treatment of neurological, orthopedic and cardiorespiratory conditions.
At Southlake, you will find Physiotherapists (PTs) and Physiotherapy Assistants (PTAs) across the continuum of care. In critical care, acute and subacute areas of the hospital, PTs and PTAs provide rehab to patients after surgery, neurological or orthopaedic injury, cancer, or any condition affecting mobility. They are an integral part of the team facilitating patients’ safe return to home.
In the outpatient setting, PTs continue to provide care by utilizing hands-on treatment, education and exercise prescription to empower patients to reduce pain, improve mobility, and regain independence. Our goal is consistent: to assist patients to return to optimal mobility and function. We are proponents of the motto “Movement is medicine!”
May 11 is National Physiotherapy Assistant Day. Thank you to the amazing Physiotherapy Assistants of Southlake for their dedication, hard work, and valuable contribution to the team!
