Cleveland Clinic Fellow, Dr. Moby Rehman, joins Southlake’s Level 7 facility to deliver leading edge care, close to home.
Southlake Health is pleased to announce that world-renowned Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Moby Rehman, MD, has joined its Department of Cardiac Health, a regional program that provides advanced cardiac care to thousands of patients across York Region into Muskoka. Dr. Rehman is an invaluable addition to Southlake Health, saving patients from traveling into Toronto to receive world-class care, close to home.

Dr. Rehman brings a robust academic and leadership background, joining Southlake from his previous position as a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, United Kingdom (UK). He is a UK-board certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with a special interest in mitral valve repair, minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery, as well as arterial revascularization. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has completed his training in the prestigious Oxford/Southampton program, recognized for its high-quality cardiac surgery outcomes.
His experience is complemented by several notable publications in leading medical journals and extensive experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery. He has performed more than 600 cardiac surgeries as the primary surgeon, demonstrating a high level of expertise and dedication to patient care. His extensive fellowship training includes specialized experiences in mitral valve repair with a Carpentier-trained surgeon in France and endoscopic mitral valve surgery and robot-assisted coronary surgery in one of Europe’s leading centres in Belgium. Most recently, Dr. Rehman served as the AATS Evarts A. Graham Memorial Travelling Fellow at the Cleveland Clinic, focusing on robotic mitral and minimally invasive surgery.

In this role, Dr. Rehman will contribute to revitalizing the Cardiovascular Surgery Program, working alongside the leadership team for Southlake’s Department of Cardiac Health. Additionally, Dr. Rehman will also work as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto, helping to nurture the next generation of cardiac health professionals.

As a Level 7 Regional Cardiac Program, Southlake’s contributions to advancing cardiac care extends far beyond the operating room. The highly skilled team of medical staff and staff provide almost every type of cardiac care, with the exception of heart transplants and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), saving patients from no longer needing to travel to Toronto for world-class care. As leaders in their fields, the team actively participate in ground-breaking research and are often the first to perform industry-leading procedures in Ontario, Canada and the world. Southlake continues to collaborate with international experts to enhance cardiac care and improve patient outcomes globally.
