A mountain of new toys will help local children enjoy a jolly holiday season

Santa isn’t the only one making a list and checking it twice – Southlake Health is helping to bring holiday magic to its communities by supporting York Regional Police’s Holiday Heroes campaign. This week, staff, medical staff, volunteers, and learners came together to donate a mountain of new toys and gifts that will make the season brighter for families in need. This annual tradition brings everyone together in the spirit of giving.

“It’s inspiring to see our Southlake Health family continue this meaningful tradition of spreading joy and fostering hope,” said Paul Woods, MD, President and CEO of Southlake Health. “Health and wellness extend far beyond the walls of our facilities. Partnering with York Regional Police to share these gifts tells the communities we proudly serve that their well-being – both physical and emotional – matters, not just during the holidays, but all year long.”

Southlake has supported the York Regional Police’s Holiday Heroes campaign for over a decade. Over the years, the initiative has raised more than $2 million in monetary donations, food, toys, clothing, and other essential items for families across York Region. This partnership highlights a deep commitment to the communities Southlake and York Regional Police serve, and a shared dedication to ensuring that no child is left without a gift or a warm holiday meal.

“We are incredibly grateful to Southlake for their unwavering support year after year,” says Jim MacSween, Chief of York Regional Police. “Their contributions, alongside those from the broader community, make a profound difference for families and individuals in need, helping ensure a brighter holiday season for so many.”

The last day to donate to this year’s campaign is Friday, December 13. New, unwrapped toys, gift cards, children’s clothing, and monetary donations can be dropped off at any York Regional Police facility. Online donations are also accepted at yrp.ca/hhdonate to support essential needs like groceries, winter clothing, diapers, and formula.

York Regional Police’s Holiday Heroes campaign has grown exponentially since its start, touching the lives of over 6,300 families last year alone. Southlake is proud to be a partner in spreading holiday cheer with York Regional Police and supporting the campaign to making the holiday season one of hope, warmth and joy for those in need.
