Southlake’s NICU nurses recreate iconic Eras Tour outfits to welcome Taylor Swift to Toronto
Southlake’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is ready for it!
To celebrate Taylor Swift’s arrival to Toronto for her six-show Eras Tour, the NICU team dressed Taylor’s tiniest fans in style, transforming the babies into mini-Swifties. Bringing joy to families with the special tribute, Southlake’s NICU nurses came together to design custom costumes inspired by Swift’s iconic Eras Tour outfits.
“It can be stressful for families when preemies and sick babies are in the intensive care unit, so we do things like the Eras Tour dress-up to spark a little joy in parents’ lives,” said Nicole Marshall, a registered nurse at Southlake. “We made sure each baby was dressed as a different era —a preemie for every era that we could make a suit for!”
Swift’s music has brought comfort to millions around the world, and Southlake’s NICU team hopes these tiny tributes bring a smile to Swift fans near and far. This team is fearless in their dedication to their patients, and today, they’re wearing their red hearts on their sleeves to show it.
“This is our way of bringing Taylor Swift to the NICU even if we couldn’t go to the concert,” said Leah De Vos, a registered nurse at Southlake. “The Lover bodysuit was the most labour-intensive, but it was worth every sequin to see these families smile!”
For 100 years and counting, Southlake’s Maternal Child program has cared for the next generation of families in northern York Region and southern Simcoe County. To ensure even the littlest patients receive high-quality care, Southlake’s level 2C NICU is qualified to provide care to premature babies born as early as 30 weeks.
