Imagine rushing yourself, a family member, or a friend to the hospital when sick or injured. Or, arriving by ambulance because of a cardiac or trauma event. You want the best clinicians to work on your case. You want those experts to have the space and equipment to do their best work. You want to be close to home when time is of the essence and could mean the difference between life and death. We all deserve timely and quality care when we need it most.
Every 4.5 minutes, a new patient comes through the doors of the Emergency Department.
Southlake Health faces the most pressing challenges in our history. Exponential population growth, coupled with complex needs of an aging population, means the demand for care exceeds our capacity. Nowhere is this felt more acutely than Southlake Emergency Department — the epicentre of hallway healthcare. We see 123,000 emergency cases – twice as many as when it opened over 20 years ago, without an expansion.
In an environment where every second counts, we can’t afford to wait.
But we need your help.
Our physicians, nurses, and staff work tirelessly to create efficiencies, maximize our smaller space, and innovate to minimize wait times and maintain the high-quality care we are known for. Southlake is home to phenomenal talent, but hard work and uniquely compassionate care only get us so far. We urgently need an environment to match their abilities and efforts.

Renew and Expand Our Space —The renewal and expansion of Emergency Department spaces will leverage a layout that facilitates efficient patient flow through triage, waiting, and assessment areas. Our emergency care teams will provide care in brighter, more welcoming environments, and patients and families will benefit from increased comfort and privacy.
Fund New Equipment and Technology — The state of our equipment affects every patient and procedure. Given high volumes we urgently need replacements. Your gift will fund things like:
- Advanced patient monitors
- Digitally linked x-ray equipment
- Procedure lights
- Portable ultrasound equipment
- Hydraulic exam tables
Through this expansion and renewal of space, equipment and technology, you will also help to ensure Southlake remains a magnet for top talent. Our people have always been Southlake’s greatest strength. You can equip the best people with the best resources to deliver the best care to us and our family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues.
