Meet Jeff, Southlake’s first Patient Ambassador in the Emergency Department.
After retiring from the corporate world, Jeff decided he wanted to pursue his passion of helping people. As Patient Ambassador, he brings comfort to our Emergency Department patients in many forms, whether it’s a warm blanket or just a person to talk to. Jeff says he draws from lessons he has learned as a patient to make the experience better for others, with communication being the central theme.
“With upfront communication, we can establish expectations and get ahead of any frustration patients may feel,” Jeff says.
Although Jeff is the first Patient Ambassador at Southlake, he is certainly not the last. Southlake has created three more Patient Ambassador positions, and other hospitals are already looking to Southlake for guidance in creating their own Patient Ambassador roles. We thank Jeff for blazing a trail for others to follow, and treating our patients always with compassion.
