Ontario announces investment of over $6.5 million to Southlake’s Mental Health Program

  • Mental Health

As you may have heard on Tuesday, June 15, the Ontario government announced an investment of over $6.5 million to support the expansion of Southlake Regional Health Centre’s Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit.

This expansion will add 12 new mental health beds and support spaces, increasing the total inpatient mental health capacity to 28 beds that will better address the demand for mental health supports and services for patients and families in Northern York Region and Southern Simcoe County.

The investment of the provincial government, in partnership with the integral support of our communities received to date, brings us closer to our goal to bring Southlake’s Mental Health Program spaces to today’s standard.

However, our work is not done.

To cover the costs of our broader mental health program expansion that the Ministry of Health does not fund, last fall Southlake launched .Better begins today, our campaign to transform mental health care at Southlake Regional Health Centre.

We still have to raise a critical $2.8 million to build spaces that heal.

Southlake continues to rely on the generosity of donors like you to deliver the healing space and environment that every patient and family deserves. With your generous support, we can raise the remaining funds needed to transform mental health care at Southlake. Watch the progress we have already made with your support here.

We invite our communities to give the gift of security, privacy, and dignity that space to heal provides. Donations to Southlake’s Mental Health Campaign can be made online or by contacting Southlake Foundation directly at 289-319-3234.

Help us reach our goal for our communities.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Klotz-Ritter
