#SL5KTogetherApart Challenge Brings Southlake’s Communities Together

Monday April 27, 2020

  • Uncategorized

Sunday, April 26th marked the originally scheduled date for the 2020 Nature’s Emporium Run for Southlake and though the event has been postponed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, that didn’t stop our communities from finding a way to come together in support of Southlake.

Last week, we announced the #SL5KTogetherApart social media challenge, a fun way to bring participants together virtually to celebrate their support and efforts in fundraising and training so far this year. The photos poured in yesterday from our participants and communities doing all kinds of fun activities to celebrate the day! People biked, hiked, ran and walked, did at-home workouts, and hosted video calls with their SL5K teammates.

But don’t take our word for it – see for yourself!

We’ve compiled each and every photo into a commemorative mosaic to show how our amazing communities and SL5K participants came together yesterday! Click on the video below to see the slideshow.

“We didn’t want to let the day pass without acknowledging the incredible support of our participants so far this year,” said Susan Mullin, President & CEO of Southlake Foundation. “Our communities have always been by our side, but particularly during this pandemic. We want them to know that it is not only deeply appreciated, but that we are all in this together.”

Each image submitted by registered participants has been entered into a draw to win one of five $50 gift cards for Nature’s Emporium – which currently offers curbside pickup. The winners will be contacted by Southlake Foundation by end of day April 30th.

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of Run for Southlake sponsors during this challenging time. In addition to offering prizes for this weekend’s #SL5KTogetherApart challenge, title sponsor Nature’s Emporium is generously providing 10% off curbside pickup orders for Southlake’s front-line staff, and they continue to donate to a staff Wellness Cart that circulates the hospital providing Southlake’s hardworking staff with snacks, beverages and comfort items to keep their energy and spirits lifted during long shifts. T-shirt sponsor, Magna International, has also generously donated critical supplies to Southlake’s personal protective equipment (PPE) drive.

While a new date has not yet been selected for the postponed 2020 Nature’s Emporium Run for Southlake, our team is working diligently to find a fun solution that protects the health and safety of our participants and communities.

A great big thank you to everyone who participated in this weekend’s #SL5KTogetherApart. We loved cheering you on throughout the day, just like we would have on race day! And we can’t wait to be running and walking alongside you again soon.
