Accomplishments Report highlights the organization’s key achievements
To celebrate the conclusion of its 2019-2024 Strategic Plan, Southlake Regional Health Centre has published a report of key accomplishments. This report contains a sample of the organization’s many achievements and innovative projects that ensure patients and families receive leading edge care, close to home.
“In 2019, Southlake embarked on a transformative journey that touched every team and every corner of the organization,” said Paul Woods, MD, President and CEO at Southlake. “The accomplishments outlined in the report were only possible because of our incredible nurses, medical staff, staff, volunteers, Patient and Family Advisors and donors. They are Southlake’s greatest strength.”
Southlake’s 2019-2024 Strategic Plan focused on four strategic goals:
- Forge a new path to meet the changing needs of our growing communities.
- Champion a culture of exemplary care and deliver clinical excellence.
- Create an environment where the best experiences happen.
- Own our role to improve the system.
These goals were met in multiple ways over the last five years despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the many accomplishments outlined in the report, a few of the most exciting include:
- Establishing Southlake as a national leader in integrated care with the Southlake@home model.
- Expanding mental health services for the communities Southlake serves by opening a new Emergent Mental Health Assessment Unit and adding 12 beds to a new Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit to expand capacity with the support of Southlake’s donors.
- Developing a partnership with the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre as the first partner of the Princess Margaret Cancer Care Network to deliver care close to home.
- Opening York Region’s first PET-CT scanner to support earlier cancer diagnosis and deliver tailor-made treatments to 1,200 patients annually.
- Growing the Patient and Family Advisor program, which has matured to include 64 representatives throughout the organization.
“Southlake’s journey over the last five years will have a positive impact for years to come, but it’s only the beginning,” said Tyler Chalk, Vice President, Strategy, Analytics and Communications at Southlake. “The communities Southlake serves are experiencing extraordinary growth. As an organization, we remain relentless in our commitment to growing alongside our community and providing leading edge care to everyone who walks through our doors.”
With the successful conclusions of its 2019-2024 Strategic Plan, Southlake is in the process of developing a new strategy that will chart an exciting course forward and guide the organization into the future. Members of the community will have opportunities to share their opinions and provide input in Southlake’s new strategy. Details will be provided as they become available. All members of the community are encouraged to participate.
